yayy! another day of pop culture! But unfortunatly, this one will be cut short, do to the unfourtunate timing of school finals. they suck. the big one.

i'm feeling horrible sick. why? A restaraunt in tawian serves you not with 'normal' things like plates, dishes, etc. but on TOILETS...WITH FLUSH/NO FLUSH OPTION. Well, hey! There's an upside to this! People with eating disorders don't have to go to the bathroom after they eat...they just stay where they are, and wa-la! instant food replay.

while journeying to the movies, as most of you know, our small, quaint theatre was bombarded with a line...to the street. a line to the street! usually it's just two feet from the box office! could this mean 'Pants' is wearing the pants at the box office, and scare off the competition? we'll find out tomorow when the actual numbers come out.

'Mission Impossible III" maybe shelved! Yep. Tom Cruise's 'would-be' third movie in the MI series is looking like it won't be shot. Why? They're saying Tom Cruise's new personaility is just...weird! Why? because instead of promoting War of the Worlds on all the shows he goes on, he blabs about Scientology and his new 'friend' Katie Holmes. I doubt screaming "I LOVE THIS WOMAN" on Oprah did any good.

well, my friends, our last day of pop culture (!) gives us yet more of the dreaded "POP CULTURE DROUGHT" we've been expiriencing lately. but, from what our sources can find...

"Mr. and Mrs. Smith" is circulatin oh so many rumours 'bout the whole "bengalina" thing, that its hard to pinpoint whether this unspecified romance will make or break this film at the box office. Then again, it's a 120mil movie, so it needs all the help it can get.

snl is sadly not on tonight, since the season finale aired last week. what IS on in its place is 'The Best of Alec Baldwin', which is clips of him on snl. Crapextraodrinaire.

With two new mvoies out yesterday, the competition is stiff: Madagascar and The Longest Yard.

Oh boy, this is gona be a great weekend.

Madagascar is getting some pretty good reviews, even being called 'this summers shrek 2'.

Today, there seems to be a drought of pop culture. I'm so, so incredibly sorry.

Pop Culture: Day 1, Vol. 7: The League of Dissapointing Gentlemen...er...consoles

Pop Culture never seemed so good. So good. So good.

Today I feel like ranting about the new video game consoles...

Lately, the news has been circulating around the possible 'dissapointments' Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo have realeased, which were at one time some of the most extraordianry...rumours. Yes, that's right. PS3, XBOX360 and what ever the hell Nintendo seems to have crapped out may be just the oppisite of what we all hoped and dreamed of. Now, let's not get into a heated arguement, because, well, the graphics, games and all that jazz will be extraordinary on these Nextgen consoles, but what they promised and what we got might have just been two different things. And then, the actual console seems to be lacking, not in internal, but external. The Xbox360 looks like a piece of modern Ikea furniture (good) created by an amature who is trying to get through college and submitted this design for money to finish the year. (bad.) What is this? I mean, when PS2 and Xbox were head2head, PS2 was the cool, popular and hi-tech brother, and Xbox was the big, kick-ass new brother. X Box totally missed out on having a good-look with it's way-too-modern-for-an-XBox look. PS3, however, took it's sleek-look to the new age, and it's modern look actually works for it, and does not look like an anorexic rectangle. One thing that I'm upset abotu is the controller. Why? The handles on each side look like they were stretched too far. It doesn't look very nice, but most likely, there'll be some updates.

Welcome back! It's me, robert, with more pop culture! (This is temporary, we'll be getting back to Reid and news weekdays and me and pop culture weekends soon.)

Paris Hiltons ad for a burger company crashed their site as fans flocked on it to see the bathing suit blondie in the ad that was posted on the companies website. Paris Hilton can crash a website, but she can't SING? WHAT IS THE WORLD COMING TO?
Oh yeah, parent groups are calling it 'soft-core porn.' Man, these parent groups have nothing better to do than target people who have more sex then them. So, so sad.

Slump at the box office? Yep. The box office has been in a slump lately, and sadly, contrary to what those hollywood people said, 'Sith' didn't bring it outta the slump. ouch. The force is definetly not with you...BITCHES!

VH1 has something to gloat about. 'I Love the 80's 3D' and 'I Love the 70's Part II' is coming to the pop-culture music channel soon, this being the third volume in the 'I Love the 80's' and the second in 'I Love the 70's'.

Star Wars grossed about a bazillion dollars. A shock? No. But beware: It'll take months to get the stench of star wars nerds out of the theaters. Bring haz mat suites next time you attend a flick. 'Sith' actaull made $108 mil. In second, Monster in Law, with $14 mil.

Ah yes, the good, sweet, pine fresh scent of Pop Culture. Let's begin.

TV:

SNL is *Live* tomorow night with it's season finale, featuring Lindsay Lohan and musical guest Coldplay. This marks the end of season 30. Damn, 30 seasons and STILL no dvd...WHATTHEFUCK?

Will & Grace's 7th season finale last nightended with a shocker: Stans alive. With this comes the 8th season, which will begin sometime after the summer. The 8th season is Will & Grace's final season. NBC is just taking everything away, eh?

The OC's second season ended last night. Guns love blah blah blah blah. All in the days work of a rich californian.

Movies:

Star Wars: Episode III: Revenge of the Sith came out yesterday, and some think it might make 45mil in its first day! Oh joy. Mixed reviews come along with it, but hey, everyone knows it'll do good no matter what. HELLO? ITS A FRIGGIN STAR WARS MOVIE.

Ouch. Big blow to the people who still have VHS. Everythings going to DVD June 1st. TAKE THAT, 3RD WORLD COUNTRIES!
Instead of "Buy it now on VHS and DVD", it seems to be "Buy it now on DVD and PSP". that is, for the studios who made a deal with Sony to produce movies for PSP-usable thingamajigs. Nintendo must be weeping.

Other News:

Kingda Ka has officialy open today! The worlds tallest and fastest coaster opened with rave reviews and coaster junkies storming the scene. Six Flags Great Adventure currently hosts this beast that will also get another companion! They've already got another rollercoaster in the works, to be built during the season. it's a wooden coaster, and will be the tallest and fastest wooden coaster in the world. VIVA LA SIX FLAGS GREA ADVENTURE!

SNL was very, very good last night, with the power of ex cast nenber Will Ferrel as host. The cold opening was funny, as everyone could hear his thoughts, calling Tina Fey a "dumb bitch" and so much more. The monolouge was also good, as it was made to seem he peed his pants...and embarressed ab audience member. Poor man,

Next week is SNL's season finale, ending it's 30th season with Lindsay Lohan as host.

pop culture: day 2, vol. 5: we're not in kansas anymore...not like we started out there either.

Movies, music, and so much more on the pop culture radar.

To begin, viewed House Of Wax last night, and defintly lived up to my expectations. More than a sleezy horror, it had substance, and really fufilled everything in the gore department. Each death was unique and the most gruesome part would be a scene where a character tries to free another (living) character from his wax mold...accidental skinning and shots of a raw jaw ensue. Not to mention everyone clapped when paris died.

HOW HOT IS IT NOW, BIATCH!

In other news, tonight is a new, live episode of Saturday Night Live, hosted by Will Ferrel. This should be great, and do I smell marketing ploy? Kicking and Screaming was released yesterday.

For now, no updates on the box office, but as soon as the estimates come in, we'll tell you. And cross your fingers that House of Wax gets 45mil plus, it needs a sequel.

ok, fine, not summer, but the hollywood summer movies have begun. though it's still spring...sorta.

Today brigns the release of alot of movies.

Is it me or did these movies pop outta no where? It's like Kicking and Screaming's trailers decided to air only a week away from its opening, and kind of popped out of no where. Monster-In-Law has been running trailers since After the Sunset, and has been airing commercials for awhile now. Mindhunters, a movie thats been shelved and forgotten by it's distrubitor, and now released for the US has aired its trailers since last month, but thats a little soon for a movie like this. Layer Cake, which hasn't aired trailers (that I have seen) is really on imdb.com and other movie sites, so more on that tomorow.

Staurday Night Live is airing live tomorow, with Alumni castmember Will Ferrel. I mean come on, this one has GOT to be good.

To begin, XXX2 got dismal reviews...less than dismal, to be precise. Critics are calling the ending climax one of the 'worst scenes in cinematic history'.

In a more uplifting light, House of Wax is coming closer, as Movie Life has ended and now, all we can do is wait for May 6th. Boy oh boy, I am ready. Tonight at midnight it is being screened at the TriBeca film festival.

Broken free from the chains of the weekday, let the weekend begin, and to usher this event in, POP CULTURE IS HERE!

We shall begin with TV...

"Reefer Madness", re-made, re-vamped and all that good stuff is now playing on ShowTime. The remake of the 1938 propaganda film against Marijuane (or the 'stuff'...or the 'reefer') that was SO outrageous (Marijuana gives you super-strength, marijuana makes you homicidal, marijuana makes you insane) that it has become a cult hit ever since, spawning DVD releases and so much more.

A musical was made out of it several years ago, and now, it hits the tv as a musical that is hilarious as it is crazy.

Catch it on Show Time.

Movies, and many of 'em. XXX: State of the Union comes out today.
Someone send it back to where it came from.

The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy also rockets into theatres, and the trailers look...for some reason, it comes off as corny. I doubt it will be one of the top two in the box office, so here's my predicitions for the box office this weekend.

Pop Culture: Day 1, Vol. 3: We're Ba-ack

Well, after a long awaited return, we've come to life again. Let the pop culture BEGIN!

The Interpreter hit theaters (with a loud bang) this friday, and critics have been reviweing this movie with postive attitudes. Most likely, this will be on the top of the list when the box office numbers are revealed.

Alot Like Love also hit theaters...more like crawled...as the trailers didn't hype us for anything except the usualy ho-hum story line of boy and girl...with a bit of love...alot like it....Oh well.

In other Pop Culture News, SNL is on it's usualy break and will be a rerun of Jason Bateman with musical guest Kelly Clarkson. Next week (or the week after) will be the live, new show, so check backnext Friday.

Oh yeah..a man sued Disney for using his clown fish as Nemo, in Finding Nemo. The man (who is french) was found guilty for fraud after they found out Nemo was on Disney websites and such while the man published his book about a fish...who gets lose.

-ABC has officialy used up all the batteries in it's mind control device. It has ANOTHER hit show, "Grey's Anatomy." Wtf? Since when did people like ABC? Oh, since Eva Longoria screwed a 17 year-old gardener, that's when.

It's Saturday, and we've got the P.C. Express...Pop Culture Express. Instead of a looong....yet very enjoyable paragraph, today I'm gonna run through everything quickly, since this weekend presents us with a drought of Pop Culture.

-SNL is on tonight, and yes, it's live, with Tom Brady and musical host Beck. Can people who get payed millions to run with a ball...ACT? [NBC, 11:29pm]

-PSP is getting a few groupies. Large movie studios are planning on releasing movies especially for the PSP. "I got my big break in the 2004 PSP flick, 'Purple People Eater 2: Purple Pandomonium'. It's a cult classic, man."

-'The Amityville Horror' has been bashed by critics. Ouch.

-'The Interpreter' is getting rave reiews, and directory Sydney Pollock and cast Nicole Kidman and Sean Penn are getting rave reviews also. This $80 million flick is coming out April 22nd.

-Kingda Ka, the world's tallest and fastest coaster is opening in 7 days. Located at Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson, New Jersey.

I'm back. Yep, Robert's back with...Pop Culture! And it's better than ever. Well, you can't improve on perfection, so it's back...and as good as last time.

Let's begin pop culture with movies being released today. Man, I think I may need, like 30 PAGES FOR THIS ONE!

The Amityville Horror

Yes, the horror is out today, and let us begin with this: The man and his family, who the original and this (sortof) were based on is calling the re-make horrible, and a big lie that is mostly designed to generate money, and not tell the truth about what happened. And the reviews are crap too.

Now, of course this movie would be SOOOO much better if it were the whole truth of what happened to that family who was fucked over by ghosts back in the seventie's.

"OMG JANE, LOOK OUT FOR THAT TAPPING NOISE!"

"OMG WHO MOVED THE REMOTE?!!??? IT MUST BE A GHOST!"

"House of Wax" has been through ups and downs, as Movie Life: House of Wax, on MTV, which chronicles the movie's making, shows us how the studio burnt down, and an excerpt from next weeks episode (Thursdays at 11) in which Chad Michael Murray is doing a scene, and well...something falls on him accidently.

Hissy fit's insue, until he does the reality-tv cliche of "GET THE CAMERA OUT OF MY FACE!"

Weekend Pop Culture: Day 3, Vol. 1

Welcome, pop culture lovers. This is my last installment until next friday, so monday-thursday, enjoy news and current events in the world and at school with Reid Branston, and thanks to Logan Hoover for supplying everything.

Yesterday, Cameron Diaz and Green Day blew us away with a fantastic show on SNL. Though I only got to see tidbits, it definetly looked like a winner. The irony of it all? While racing home to see SNL, I was a mere 20 feet to where the were shooting it.

Oh, the irony.

On wards.

House of Wax, the new, updated horror movie, which is a re-make of a re-make is coming into theatres May 6th (The day we get back from Washington) and seems awesome. Chad Micheal-Murry (Sp?) and Paris Hilton star, along with other new and not new faces. This movie, which is featured on MTV's Movie Life (Thurdays at 11), look pretty damn awesome, and Movie Life is getting me even more excited for it. I saw the poster for it in Times Square yesterday, billboard size, and I was in horror movie bliss for those few seconds I saw it.

Skipping right past The Amityville Horror, news of a new James Bond have come out of the Hollywood woodwork. But just to torture you, I'll let you guess as to who it is until my next Pop Culture installment.

Weekend Pop Culture: Day 2, Vol. 1

Saturday. A joyus day that brings us many-a-pop-culture things.

Saturday Night Live is on tonight (back from it's two weeks of non-live) with Cameron Diaz and musical guest Green Day. Since the show does a few live shows, takes a week (or two week) break. Cameron Diaz and the band's tv spots for tonight seem hysterical (one with Cameron announcing the show, then exclaiming 'Look guys...we're on TV' as they all go into 'THERES-A-CAMERA-HERE' sort of tricks, and one with Cameron announcing the show and then saying 'Who pinched my butt?' as one of Green Day's band members says 'You pinched your own butt'.)
The show looks promising tonight. NBC at 11:29.

Fever Pitch opened friday, and was a mix of comedy, romance, and sports. Probabbly the only funny comedy since 'Meet the Fockers', the end shot of Drew Barrymore running acroos Fenway Park sums the whole movie up. Pretty damn good.

How the fuck does running across Fenway Park mean 'pretty damn good'?

PSP has been making a big splash in the market, since you cant find one anywhere. Better than Nintendo DS? Maybe. It definetly looks sleeker, and probabbly score with the 13-24 crowd as the Nintendo DS is targeted to the younger ones. Not intentionally though. Why? Nintendo's ads for DS say 'Touching is good', obviosuly referring to masturbation. But why does DS seem so...kid-oriented? Gamecube ruined any 'adult' credibility Nintendo had by releasing mostly 'fluff' games. PSP is hipper, and adult crowds are flocking. Like a flock of seagulls. Not the band. Ew. I'm covered in mid-80's air. It sucks.

It's the weekend, and that means it's Pop Culture time.

Get your cinema mojo on with this weekends Box Office.

Two new movies will be laid upon us today (Friday). "Sahara", the comedy/action about hidden treasure and all that Disney crap, and "Fever Pitch", the comedy about a Red Sox-obessed fan who meets the lvoe of his life and then comes to a cross road. It's either the game or the girl.

Predictible? Maybe. Funny? Looks like it.

Will Smith has been churning out the dollars at the box office when his movie, "Hitch", came into audience's view. Now, to add to the large lump sum, he seems to have released an album "Lost and Found". The commercials for the album says that it features the "HIT SINGLE 'SWITCH'!!!!!"

HAS ANYONE EVER HEARD THIS FUCKING SONG???

That's what I thought. But hey, the song sounds good.

In other news, Kingda Ka, currently the world tallest (458ft) and fastest (128mph) rollercoaster is about to open. It resides in Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson, New Jersey. Currently, Six Flags is auctioning the first ride on the record-breaking coaster off on eBay. Go to eBay, type in "Kingda Ka" and you'll see an auction for the first-ever ride on the coaster. The bidding starts at $450, and coaster fan boys are in heaven. All they money goes to a charity, so yeah, it's for a good cause.
